For 2018 we are running courses on organic gardening and composting. 

The courses will be run from our nursery and garden and usually last for 2 hours.

We can provide the following courses:

• Organic vegetable gardening.

Provides an overview into organic vegetable gardening including composting, weed control, bed systems, slug proof salad bars, mulching, pest control, growing media, raising plants and plant protection techniques.  

• Organic flower gardening.

Provides an overview into organic flower gardening including composting, weed control, plant selection, mulching, pest control, growing media, raising plants and plant protection techniques.  ​

• Low maintenance organic gardening.

Provides an overview into how organic gardening can be achieved with low maintenace in mind - including composting, mulching, pest control, weed control, growing media, raising plants and plant protection techniques. 

• Organic gardening.

Provides an overview into organic gardening including composting, mulching, pest control, weed control, growing media, raising plants and plant protection techniques. 

•   Quick Return compost making from garden and kitchen waste

Provides an insight into the 'Quick Return' method of composting and how to get maximum benefit out of available garden and kitchen waste resources. Includes history, theories, types of bins, compostable materials, the system and methodology, using the compost and its effects. There will be a hands on part of the course where a QR compost heap will be constructed.    



The cost per person on our courses is £25. Light refreshments are included as well as free packet of QR compost activator (worth £4) and useful literature on compost making. We have off road parking for up to 5 vehicles.

Please note that we need a minimum number of 5 persons to run a course so we may have to cancel if numbers are insufficient but we will offer alternative dates where possible.

The above courses cost £25 per person. Please send cheques for the full amount of the course payable to 'Gardener's Cottage Plants'. Please state the date and title of the course you wish to attend. Payment to be received no later than one week before the course date please. Cheques will be returned if the course is cancelled though we are sorry but cannot refund if you fail to turn up for the course. We look forward to meeting you and hope that you will come away from the course with some useful information and practical ideas to implement.
